Introducing Eve! in Kalamazoo, Michigan

It is sometimes difficult to see any dog`s true personalty in a shelter setting. As most shelters are, we at Canine Safe Harbor are also full to capacity. Dog`s respond differently to life in a shelter and maybe more so coming from a home that may have been an unhappy one. Meet Eve..she is a young female Pitbull Terrier with beautiful markings & a heart shaped nose! She has recently been taken from our shelter into a home environment 1 day a week as have many other dog`s. This enables us to get an idea of how a dog behaves in a home. Eve clearly loves riding in the car and is very alert at her surroundings. When the car stops she likes to hop in the back seat to look out the window in back. As soon as she arrives at the testing home she runs straight for the door to go inside. Eve loves sniffing everything in sight and when the sniffing is over she heads for the toy basket. The 1st trip to the home there were 2 men outside working then later came inside and sat at the kitchen table. It took Eve a few minutes to work her way to them but once she did she tagged teamed them for belly rubs. She loves to run after balls and will drop them close to you as she returns and loves a treat in a Kong. On Eve`s 2nd visit the stairs to the basement were on the list to see how she did. Maybe it was the periodic noise coming from the basement that made her hesitant but on her 3rd visit she laid at the top of the stairs almost considering giving them a try but didnt. By her 2nd visit Eve went right to the door to go out when asked if she had to go "Outside". She hasnt had an accident yet nor has she torn anything up or gone any further than to sniff the trash can. She also loves to chew her Nylabone and does well on the outside cable run. We believe that Eve would do best in a home with no kids no other dogs & even though she warmed up to men she seems more comfortable with women. Eve has been spayed, heart worm tested and neg. is receiving monthly heart worm medication all year & is UTD on all routine shots.. now all she needs is a great home!
